WWE SummerSlam 2024 Preview And Predictions

We are quickly closing in on the biggest event of the summer, as WWE presents “Summerslam 2024” from the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, OH, on Saturday, August 3rd, at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT, steaming on Peacock.

Seven huge matches have been announced for the card, each with its own unique story going into the event. Let’s look at the matches on the card and my predictions for who will walk out of Cleveland victorious.

CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre w/Seth Rollins as Special Guest Referee

This match has been many months in the making. WWE has done a great job with this feud and carrying it out carefully, waiting for Punk to be cleared to return.

While the WWE fans would welcome CM Punk winning his return match from injury, and it could be successful, I don’t see that happening.

The wild card in all of this is Seth “Freakin” Rollins. He has a problem with both men and it will be interesting to see how he will call this match.

In the end, I do think Rollins will be involved in the finish in some fashion and will reluctantly count CM Punk’s shoulders down for the three-count.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre gets the win.

WWE United States Championship Match: Logan Paul (c) vs. LA Knight

All signs point to LA Knight defeating Logan Paul here at Summerslam. This match will be only Logan Paul’s third title defense.

Logan Paul is a big-name part-timer who doesn’t need the title. It makes sense to put the title on a Babyface that will be around each week and one that the WWE Universe will pop for when they win.

I predict Paul will try to cheat to win this match. However, all his attempts will be foiled, and LA Knight will have his hand raised when it’s all said and done.

Prediction: LA Knight will be crowned the new WWE United States Champion, yeah!

Intercontinental Championship Match: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Bron Breakker

Like many, I was surprised WWE didn’t put the belt on Breakker in the first meeting between these two at last month’s WWE PLE, “Money In The Bank.”

However, WWE has done an excellent job of ensuring Breakker did not lose any momentum in the loss and building him up even stronger going into this match at Summerslam.

WWE could always pull a swerve and have the ultimate underdog, Sami Zayn, continue to do the impossible and beat Breakker again. But I don’t think that will be the case.

WWE should and will put the title on Breakker here after a gutsy performance by Sami Zayn.

Prediction: Bron Breakker will defeat Sami Zayne to become the new WWE International Champion.

WWE Women’s Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Nia Jax

This match is the most challenging match on the card to predict, and it’s a toss-up regarding who will win. Tiffany Straton, lurking around with the MITB Briefcase, will also be a focal point here.

Putting the title on Nia Jax would be fine; I just don’t see Bayley’s title run ending yet. For this reason, I’m going with Bayley getting the win in a hard-fought battle.

The question then becomes, will Stratton cash in her MITB briefcase after the match? While there is a real possibility of that happening, I’m going to go with Stratton, teasingly cashing it in or going to attempt to, but then not.

Prediction: Bayley will defeat Nia Jax and retain her championship.

WWE Women’s World Championship Match: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley

This match is one of the more intriguing storylines on the card. WWE has done an excellent job keeping Morgan’s title reign relevant with the whole Dominick Mysterio storyline.

After Mysterio tells off Morgan and professes his feelings for Ripley, one would think Rhea has everything back in order ahead of her title match. But, of course, that will not be the case. Look for Mysterio to turn on Rhea and side with Morgan, helping her win.

Mysterio has legitimate heat with the crowd, and his traitorous nature perfectly suits his heel character. That is why I’m predicting Morgan defeating Ripley with the help of Dominick Mysterio.

Prediction: Liv Morgan defeats Rhea Ripley to retain her championship.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Damian Priest (c) vs. Gunther

From very early on, it appeared Gunther was destined to be a World Champion in WWE. He did a great job returning the IC Championship to relevance, holding it for a record 666 days.

Losing the title would be unfortunate for Damien Priest, as he is a talented superstar with a lot to offer that we have yet to see.

It does seem that WWE has been teasing a complete Babyface turn for Priest over the past month. Gunther winning the title here and continuing a feud with a Babyface Priest seems to be the direction that makes the most sense for WWE.

Prediction: GUNTHER defeats Damien Priest to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Undisputed WWE Championship Match: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa

Everyone is waiting and expecting something big to happen in the match. Will Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman return?

Cody Rhodes will win here over Solo, but how he does it is the question. Will someone come to Rhodes’s aid to help him fight off what will surely be interference from Bloodline 2.0?

The answer is yes, more than likely, but who? While Roman will be returning, I’m not 100% sold on Roman coming back at Summerslam. However, I’m relatively sure that Paul Heyman will be back one way or another at the event.

I’m looking for Heyman to help Rhodes beat Solo and exact some revenge. If Roman appears and is the one who costs his cousin, well, that would just be icing on the cake!

Prediction: Cody Rhodes will defeat Solo Sikoa and retain his championship.
