WWE hasn’t made a big splash in signing notable free agents in a long time, but that could change soon.
Nick Aldis was reportedly a casualty of a hiring freeze in WWE earlier this year as Vince McMahon worked to complete the acquisition of WWE from the Endeavor Group with the intention of merging WWE and the UFC into a new company.
Instead of joining WWE, Aldis returned to Impact Wrestling after leaving the NWA in April at Rebellion, where he was chasing the Impact World Title.
Over the weekend, Aldis was defeated by Impact World Champion Alex Shelley at the Slammiversary pay-per-view event. He worked with Eric Young at Sunday’s TV tapings in a match that will air this Thursday, which will finish him up with the promotion.
PWInsider Elite reported today that several WWE sources have told them that now that Aldis is free and clear, there is a lot of interest in him. In recent weeks, his name has been mentioned internally as a potential Producer.
Aldis has yet to publicly address his departure from Impact Wrestling.
PWMania.com recently spoke with Aldis about a wide range of topics including making his return to IMPACT, the differences between his previous run at IMPACT to this current one, Slammiversary, and more. You can check out the complete interview below:
