WWE NXT Review February 28, 2023

Kicking off this week’s NXT with North American Champion Wes Lee waits in the ring as we see a bunch of stars brawling to try and get to him first. Malik Blade & Edris Enofé are out first, but argue over which one should face Lee. Dabba Kato wipes them both out, but Apollo Crews appears out of nowhere and levels him. Nathan Frazer comes running out of the back & he gets in the ring and officially answers the call.

North American Title Match
Wes Lee (c) vs. Nathan Frazer

Wes Lee delivers a shoulder tackle. They go back & forth with submission holds until Nathan Frazer gains the upper hand and delivers an arm drag. Lee & Frazer level one another with dropkicks before Lee delivers a kick to Frazer’s head then they shake hands, and Lee sends Frazer onto the apron. Frazer drags Lee to the outside and looks for a moonsault, but Lee ducks it and looks to go flying. Frazer ducks out of the way.

After the break Frazer delivers a kick to Lee’s head. He ascends to the top and looks to go flying but Lee moves out of the way. They level one another with crossbodies before Frazer delivers a slam. Lee & Frazer end up on the top rope and Frazer hits a superplex. He rolls through and delivers a modified twisting neckbreaker then goes for a pin but Lee kicks out.

Lee delivers a stunner to Frazer on the top rope but Frazer delivers a kick that sends him crashing onto the floor. He looks for a splash but Lee ducks it and Frazer collides with the announce desk. Lee then delivers a corkscrew over the top rope then tosses Frazer in the ring and hits the Kardiak Kick for the win.

Winner & Still North American Champion: Wes Lee (STILL CHAMPION!!!!) (Recommend)

After the match Lee helps Frazer up and they hug one another.

JD McDonagh detailed his Retnea injury before calling out Ilja Dragunov. McDonagh said that he would pushed Dragunov’s love of violence to new levels & send him home permanently.

We head backstage to Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen. Briggs notices something is wrong with Jensen, and Jensen says things haven’t felt the same with Kiana James since their Valentine’s Day date. Briggs hypes him up and says the Jensen from 6 months ago would be proud of him then tells him things will work out with her. They then head to the ring.

We are back from the break, we go backstage to McKenzie Mitchell is with Hank Walker. Mitchell asks Walker if he was looking to capture the North American Title or prove himself to Drew Gulak & Walker says it was a little bit of both. Axiom walks in and tells Walker he couldn’t beat Lee if he wanted to. Walker then attacks Axiom and they begin to brawl.

Tag Team Match
Indus Sher (Veer Mahaan & Sanga) vs. Josh Briggs & Brooks Jansen

Sanga delivers a boot to Brooks Jensen. He looks for a slam but Jensen escapes and tags in Josh Briggs. Briggs levels Sanga, then looks to tag Jensen back in. Jensen is distracted, but realizes Briggs wants to make the tag. Veer Mahaan tags in and hits an elbow drop. Sanga tags back in and delivers a shoulder tackle and a body slam then looks for an elbow drop.

Jensen rolls out of the way and tags in Briggs. Briggs beats down Sanga and delivers a right hand to his face. Briggs & Jensen begin arguing allowing Mahaan to tag in and delivers the Million Dollar Lariat for the win.

Winners: Indus Sher

After the match Jinder Mahal grabs a mic and challenges Creed Brothers to a 6 man tag team match with a partner of their choice at Roadblock.

Back from the break Nathan Frazer is being checked on in the medical office as McKenzie Mitchell stands by to interview him. Katana Chance comes running in and says the medical official is needed outside, and we then see Wendy Choo clutching her arm in the parking lot.

Gigi Dolin says this is the last time everyone will hear her music, then says she can handle the physical pain Jacy Jayne has put her through. She says this isn’t the first time that someone close to her has hurt her and says Jayne has made her realize who she really is. She says Toxic Attraction is all about glitz and glamor, but that’s not who she is. She talks about the pain her mother has put her through and how she ran away from home to show her little brother they could escape their abusive household then says she will hammer the final nail in the coffin next week at Roadblock.

We then head to a video of Chase U. Duke Hudson encourages Thea Hail after her recent abduction before Andre Chase begins his lesson on factions. The Schism then appears on the television behind Chase and tells Chase U, Duke Hudson & Thea Hail to move under Schism’s tree or else they will dismantle them. An enraged Chase challenges Joe Gacy to a match at Roadblock.

Dijak called out Tony D’Angelo for costing him the North American Title twice. Dijak promised to lock D’Angelo down for good.

Meiko Satomura vs. Zoey Stark

Match starts off with a lock up then they go back & forth with submission holds before Meiko Satomura delivers a kick. Zoey Stark fires back with a clothesline, and Satomura rolls to the outside. Stark looks for a sliding baseball kick but Satomura ducks out of the way and delivers a kick of her own that sends us to a break.

After the break Stark & Satomura go back & forth with right hands. Satomura delivers a DDT and a standing splash, then looks for a knee. Stark rolls out of the way and delivers a hair whip then ascends to the top. Satomura trips her and sends her crashing to the mat, then delivers a modified back suplex side slam.

Stark fires back with a pair of kicks then follows it up with a running kick and ascends to the top. She looks for a 450 Splash but Satomura rolls out of the way and hits a Death Valley Driver. She follows it up with Scorpio Rising for the win.

Winner: Meiko Satomura 

After the match Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez gets in the ring and stares down Satomura.

Shawn Michaels revealed on Twitter that he will appear at Roadblock as a guest of the Grayson Waller Effect.

We then head backstage to McKenzie Mitchell outside the medical office looking for an update on Wendy Choo. Tiffany Stratton says people should stay out of the parking lot before Kayden Carter & Katana Chance walk out of the medical office. They tell Mitchell things aren’t looking good. Stratton continues running her mouth and a fed up Chance challenges her to a match later tonight.

After the break we head backstage to Creed Brothers discussing Indus Sher’s challenge. The duo run into Damon Kemp & Julius says while Kemp is a bad man, that’s what it will take to beat Indus Sher. Kemp asks if they’ll be their 3rd man, and he says no. Bron Breakker walks in and volunteers to be the 3rd man and Julius says he could’ve done that a minute earlier.

Sol Ruca vs. Elektra Lopez

Match begins with a lock up then they exchange submission holds before Elektra Lopez delivers a back elbow. Sol Ruca fires back with a facebuster and ascends to the top, but Lopez pushes her to the outside before tossing her back in the ring and going for a pin. Ruca kicks out and Lopez delivers a knee to her back.

She follows it up with an elbow drop and a knee to her midsection, then sends her face bouncing off the top rope and delivers a back body drop. Ruca fires back with a few right hands and a pair of shoulder tackles then delivers a dropkick and a double underhook suplex.

Lopez whips Ruca into the bottom turnbuckle and looks for a pair of brass knuckles hidden in the corner. Valentina Feroz holds them up and Lopez calls for them but Feroz holds off on giving them which allows Ruca to deliver Sol Snatcher for the win.

Winner: Sol Ruca

After the match Lopez gets in Feroz’s face and piefaces her then Feroz then sends her crashing into the mat.

We head to a video of NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus at a pub playing some pool and talking about the attack they suffered at the hands of Pretty Deadly last week. Mark Coffey gets Wolfgang fired up and tells him to use the anger he feels as fuel to make his next shot. Someone from another table then bumps into Wolfgang and he snaps, hitting him with a glass and raining down right hands.

Pretty Deadly pat themselves on the back and imagine what they will be like when they win back the NXT Tag Team Titles. Mitchell pulls up a tweet posted by Drew McIntyre that essentially warns Pretty Deadly about messing with Gallus and asks the duo for their reaction. Kit Wilson calls Scotland a terrible country then challenges Gallus to meet them in the ring next week.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Katana Chance

Match starts off with a lock up then Tiffany Stratton tosses Katana Chance across the ring, but Chance delivers a dropkick and a shoulder to Stratton’s midsection. She follows it up with a hurricanrana and looks for one but Stratton catches her and sends her crashing into the top rope face first. Chance delivers a back elbow and a hurricanrana, then delivers a knee to her head and a double stomp off the middle rope to the back of Stratton’s neck.

Chance delivers a kick as Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn head down to ringside. Chance ascends to the top and looks for a crossbody but Stratton catches her and plants her. She follows it up with Prettiest Moonsault Ever puts away Chance.

Winner: Tiffany Stratton

After the match Stratton grabs a mic and says she is coming for the Women’s Title.

We then head backstage to Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen. Jensen looks to apologize, but Briggs tells him to save it and says he needs to solve his issues with Kiana James & Fallon Henley. Jensen apologizes and Briggs accepts his apology, then says he’s learned you don’t get a lot of do overs in life then they hug one another.

Axiom vs. Hank Walker

Match starts off with a lock up then they exchange submission holds before Axiom slaps Walker. Walker scoops him up but Axiom escapes his grasp. Walker delivers a big boot, then sends Axiom crashing into the mat face first. Axiom fires back with a dropkick and a knee, then ascends to the top and delivers a crossbody.

He goes for a pin, but Walker kicks out. Axiom delivers a pair of kicks, but Walker fires back with a massive shoulder tackle and a splash in the corner. Axiom delivers a knee to Walker’s jaw, then delivers a kick to the same location. He follows it up with Golden Ratio for the win.

Winner: Axiom

After the match Axiom tells Walker that he respects him.

Grayson Waller cut a promo in a pool saying that he was excited to see Shawn Michaels in the Grayson Waller Effect, but warned Michaels to give him the respect he deserves or he would make Michaels do something he promised to never do again.

Carmelo Hayes vs. Tyler Bate

Match starts off with Carmelo Hayes & Tyler Bate lock up as they go back & forth with submission holds before Bate offers Hayes his hand but Hayes slaps it away, and Bate rolls Hayes up. Hayes reverses the fall, but Bate kicks out. They try pinning one another, but are unsuccessful in doing so. Bate delivers an uppercut and a back body drop, then follows it up with a dropkick. Hayes rolls to the outside, and Bate goes flying over the top to level him that sends us to a break.

After the break Hayes whips Bate into the corner. Bate charges at Hayes but Trick Williams pulls him out of the way. Bate then delivers a running shooting star press and an airplane spin then delivers a vicious right hand. He delivers a series of uppercuts but Hayes fires back with a few forearms.

Bate fires off several right and left hands on Hayes’ midsection, but Hayes plants him and delivers a knee. He delivers a cutter, then ascends to the top. Bate meets him there and delivers a superplex then climbs to the top rope.

Williams tries to interfere but Bate fights him off and goes flying. Melo takes advantage and rolls out of the way then delivers a Codebreaker follow by Nothing But Net gets the win.

Winner: Carmelo Hayes (Recommend)
