WWE Main Event Results – June 22, 2023
Before I start this review just letting you guys know that going forward I’m only reviewing the matches.
Dana Brooke vs. Xia Li
Xia Li throws some chops to start as Dana Brooke backs off in the corner then she throws some chops of her own and then throws a bunch of slaps and punches then Brooke hits a shoulder block and then a 2nd sends Li to the mat before a cartwheel splash gets a two count. Brooke misses a charge in the corner and Li mounts to throw down some punches.
Li with a suplex that bounces Brooke’s knee off the bottom corner buckle then Li has a body part to target and goes to work on the knee with kicks and that gets a two count. Li with a sit out facebuster for a two count then she stomps away at the stomach and lands a head kick. Brooke hooks a version of the STF but she releases the hold and misses an elbow.
Brooke throws a leg kick and hits a clothesline while hopping around on one leg then Brooke hits the handspring splash in the corner for a two count. Li tries a slam but Brooke escapes and gets the spinning neckbreaker for the win.
Winner: Dana Brooke
Apollo Crews vs. JD McDonagh
JD McDonagh throws some forearms in the corner and goes to work on the arm then Apollo Crews reverses and McDonagh reverses that as they go through a sequence with neither man gaining an advantage. Crews ends up getting a shoulder tackle but McDonagh with a drop toehold and lands a leg drop to the back of the head.
Then to the corner for some chops but Crews turns that round and throws chops off his own from one corner to the other then we get some heavy chops from Crews as he is lighting up McDonagh’s chest. Crews with a whip to the corner and McDonagh goes flying off the top buckle and to the floor then Crews with a standing moonsault off the apron and he lands on his feet as we go to a break.
After the break McDonagh & Crews fighting on the top rope as McDonagh looks for a superplex but Crews punches him off. McDonagh avoids Crews but he rolls through and lands more strikes then a leaping clothesline from Crews followed by a kip up then he connects with a Stinger Splash in the corner and heads up to the rope & connects with a crossbody for a two count.
McDonagh throws elbows to escape a slam attempt and avoids a charge in the corner. McDonagh uses the top rope to take Crews down gets a two count. McDonagh misses a moonsault and Crews gets a one armed spinebuster for a two count. McDonagh blocks a suplex and they go back & forth with a small package with both men rolling over at two.
JD comes out of nowhere with a Spanish Fly for two in another near fall then McDonagh heads up but Crews knocks him off balance then Crews meets him up there but gets hit an elbow to knock him down then McDonagh comes off but gets caught & Crews drills him to the mat with a Samoan Drop for the win.
Winner: Apollo Crews
After the match McDonagh cheap shots Crews.
