Ahead of WrestleMania 41, WWE has made a significant change to the SmackDown writing team. According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg Brian James has been named the new Co-Lead Writer for the SmackDown brand, joining John Swikata in overseeing the show’s creative direction.
James, who previously worked as a SmackDown writer in 2017, returns to a familiar role. His past tenure included creative contributions during a time when the blue brand gained praise for its compelling storylines. Notably, in 2023, James sparked discussion by stating that “wins and losses don’t matter” while defending WWE’s controversial 50/50 booking strategy.
With Road Dogg back at the creative helm, fans are eager to see how his experience and vision shape SmackDown’s road to WrestleMania 41.
