Sheamus and Drew McIntyre were dubbed The Banger Bros by WWE earlier this month. Fans on social media reacted strongly to this because it sounds similar to the adult film company Bang Bros, a name that is clearly not PG.
Sheamus and McIntyre even made fun of the name on Twitter with clever tweets.
WWE was aware of the name and what it might mean to some people, as it sounds like it could be used for adult entertainment, as was previously reported.
The company has now made a decision on the name. Dave Meltzer reported in the most recent issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE had dropped the name.
“WWE has dropped the name The Banger Bros for Sheamus & McIntyre after finding out about the porno company called The Bang Bros.”
Sheamus and McIntyre have announced their participation in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match.
