Dave Meltzer has confirmed that he has heard rumors that Vince McMahon will have a big send-off at WWE WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles next year.
As PWMania.com previously reported, on Tuesday, the story was first published in The US Sun, which also made the observation that co-CEO and Chairman Stephanie McMahon is currently involved in those discussions.
According to a source that was mentioned in The Sun, Vince may not be completely done with WWE, and there have been discussions on how to pay tribute to him in the company. The insider also admitted that there was the possibility of some sort of backlash, but emphasized that what he had accomplished for the company could not be undervalued.
Additionally, The Sun reported that there have been discussions regarding the possibility of Vince being honored at the WWE Hall of Fame. In the past, Vince never liked to appear on camera during Hall of Fame events. However, he did break the rule in order to induct The Undertaker into the Hall of Fame in 2021.
It is currently unknown whether or not there are firm plans in place to honour McMahon, but there does appear to be some smoke surrounding this story. When asked if he had heard the story that was reported in The Sun, Meltzer stated the following during Sunday Night’s Main Event:
“Yea, I’ve heard this for a week or two a so. The Vince McMahon Hall of Fame thing with WrestleMania in Los Angeles. It makes sense to do it. No one has told me ‘yes, this is it.’ I’ll actually try to check on this week but it makes sense and I would be expecting it, yea.”
