Update On This Year’s WWE Tribute To The Troops

WWE is bringing back the Tribute to the Troops special, which debuted in December 2003.

The original plan for this special was to send wrestlers to American troops stationed in the Middle East to tour various bases and meet with soldiers.

WWE has held the event for 17 years in a row until 2019, when WWE decided not to broadcast it on television. In 2019, WWE instead held house shows at Marine Corps Air Station New River and Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

The event had previously taken place in Iraq and Afghanistan before being relocated to various US military bases in 2010. It was brought back in 2020, taped at SmackDown events, and aired later.

WWE is taping the show at the SmackDown event on December 8th, according to WrestleVotes. It’s unclear when the special will air or if it will be shown on FOX, as in previous years.
