Update On Mercedes Moné And Her Impending Debut With AEW

As previously reported by PWMania.com, AEW President Tony Khan made a big announcement during Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite. In five weeks time the company will be holding their first-ever show in Boston, Massachusetts from the TD Garden called “Big Business.”

Fightful Select reports that this is one of AEW’s “worst kept secrets” as all signs point to this being the show where Mercedes Moné debuts for the company. It was also mentioned that the discussions between WWE and Moné indeed fell through and that the former Sasha Banks has actually been under contract to AEW since early January.

There were a number of discussions about having Moné debut for AEW much sooner like New York’s Grand Slam special or at the very least announcing her debut for the company several weeks back, but the decision was made to hold off her AEW debut for the show in Boston as the former WWE star wasn’t prepared at the time due to the injury she suffered back in 2023.

Fightful Select also noted that the information was corroborated by NJPW sources, who revealed that Moné hasn’t yet received her clearance and she has not resumed her training either despite reports claiming otherwise. NJPW reportedly intends to continue discussions regarding potential collaboration with Moné. It was also noted that the announcement for the February 7 and March 13 shows was only finalized a few weeks prior.
