During the January 18, 2025, edition of AEW Collision, Christopher Daniels faced “Hangman” Adam Page in a brutal Texas Death Match. Daniels came up short in the contest, which is believed to have marked the end of his in-ring career. While Daniels has not officially announced his retirement, reports indicate that this was likely his final match as an active performer. He will, however, continue his role in AEW’s talent relations department.
According to F4WOnline.com, Daniels chose not to make his retirement a focal point on television:
“It wasn’t brought up like that or pushed on television, but that was his call not to make a big deal about it. But backstage talent was there Thursday night [when the Collision match was taped] with that impression, and he was very emotional backstage when he got back.”
Daniels, often referred to as “The Fallen Angel,” has had a storied career spanning decades. From his early days in ROH and PWG to his success in TNA’s X-Division and AEW, Daniels has left an indelible mark on professional wrestling. While his in-ring contributions may have come to an end, his backstage role ensures that his influence on the industry will continue. Fans and peers alike will remember his farewell performance as a testament to his enduring legacy.
