Nia Jax appeared in an interview with Michael Cole on WWE Monday Night RAW this week, discussing her plans for the Women’s Royal Rumble. Jax threatened to knock out Cole, and it’s clear that she has no plans to turn babyface anytime soon, but it appears that another top star may turn soon, possibly within the next few months.
WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley entered the ring to confront Jax, and she received a big babyface pop from the crowd. Scroll down to see a video of the crowd reacting to her entrance. It was an unusual confrontation because Ripley and Jax are both on the heel side, but the company knew Ripley would be cheered because she has been at live events. Ripley acknowledged the fans’ reaction and was not hostile towards them in any way.
There has been ongoing tension between The Judgment Day in recent months, which has been discussed for some weeks, and a babyface turn for Ripley appears to be the next logical step for her character, given her popularity.
WWE has been slow to address the Judgment Day issues, so we may have to wait until after WrestleMania to see the storyline conclude with Ripley’s face turn. Tonight on Raw, it was hinted that Jax vs. Ripley could be the next Women’s World Title event following the Royal Rumble.
