Title Match Revealed for AEW Battle of The Belts V

At AEW’s Battle of the Belts V special, the AEW All-Atlantic Title will be defended.

Orange Cassidy retained the All-Atlantic Title over Trent Beretta on Friday’s New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Rampage. The match was set after Kip Sabian stated on Wednesday’s Dynamite that he should be Cassidy’s next challenger, but Cassidy instead chose his Best Friends stablemate. Following the match, Sabian left the announce table to easily defeat enhancement talent Atiba, utilizing Cassidy’s Orange Punch finisher with Cassidy’s elbow pad that Penelope Ford had obtained in the previous match.

Sabian vs. Cassidy for the All-Atlantic Title at Battle of the Belts V was then announced by AEW. They’ve been feuding for a few weeks now.

Cassidy will defend his title for the ninth time since defeating AEW World Trios Champion PAC on the October 12 Dynamite. He has successfully defended his title against Preston Vance and Rush in a Triple Threat, Rey Fenix and Luchasaurus in a Triple Threat, Lee Johnson, Katsuyori Shibata, Jake Hager, QT Marshall, Trent Seven, and now Beretta.

As of this writing, Sabian vs. Cassidy is the only bout announced for Battle of the Belts V, but that may change in the coming days. You can see the full lineup for Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, the first show of 2023, by clicking here.

The Friday Fight Night edition of AEW Battle of the Belts V will air live on TNT next Friday night at 11 p.m. ET, immediately following the conclusion of the first Rampage episode of 2023. Both shows will take place at Portland’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
