On Sunday, August 25, the AEW All In event is scheduled to feature a main event between AEW World Heavyweight Champion Swerve Strickland and Bryan Danielson. Both fighters have been very respectful of one another in the lead-up to the battle.
Danielson defeated Hangman Page in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, which led to the bout. This is only the second time they’ve met in the ring; their first encounter took place on Dynamite in October 2023, and Danielson won.
While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Strickland praised Danielson and stated that he had never faced anyone like him.
“Bryan’s not just experienced, he’s the greatest of all time,” said Strickland. “That’s who I’m going up against–a first-ballot Hall of Famer. I’ve never faced anyone like him. But he’s never faced anyone like me.”
Danielson’s wrestling contract with AEW expires this week. He plans to retire from full-time wrestling later this year.
