AEW star Skye Blue recently appeared on AEW Unrestricted for an in-depth interview covering all things pro wrestling. During the discussion, Blue’s recalled her reaction when AEW signed her:
“I cried a lot. I remember like my first extra work was still pandemic days in Jacksonville. I remember being terrified. I remember being an extra in that crowd shaking. My first day of extra work was Aminata’s first day of extra work too, which was really freaking awesome. I remember sitting there and we’re like, crap, that’s gonna be us. We’re sitting in the crowd and I’m like, we’re gonna have to go get in that ring. They told me my first match was against Britt. I was like, ‘Oh, it’s just Britt Baker and then this is Dustin Rhodes.’ I wasn’t back until the All Out that I got signed. I remember from cheering in the crowd to like 2AM or whatever it was, to like, getting the graphic. I FaceTimed my mom because like they told me they wanted to put the graphic out today. I text her. I was like, ‘Hey, just be prepared for something.’ She’s like, ‘What the hell does that mean?’ She’s spamming my phone while I was in the makeup chair, so I FaceTimed her and I sent her the picture of the graphic because Twitter put it up first. She was crying and screaming on the phone and it made me cry. I’m sitting in the makeup chair trying not to cry because they’re putting makeup on me and I’m gonna ruin it. I never thought I was going to make it to that point. I wanted to do this for so long and AEW has been the dream company.”
On Ruby Soho and Toni Storm:
“I was so excited because I’ve always wanted to wrestle Ruby and Toni even before Saraya got to AEW . Those were two on the dream list. I love them as human beings. They always take care of me and look out for me. They’re just the sweetest human beings.”
