WWE NXT Vengeance Day took place on Sunday night at the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tennessee, and marked the brand’s first PLE of the year.
This show featured WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Trick Williams as the main event. Top matches include North American Champion Oba Femi vs. Dragon Lee, the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals featuring Carmelo Hayes and Williams vs. Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin, and NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria vs. Roxanne Perez.
The Dusty Rhodes Classic opened the show, with Corbin and Breakker winning the tournament that has been running for years. They received the Dusty Rhodes Classic Cup trophy, which is modeled after Dusty’s iconic cowboy wrestling boots.
According to Corey Brennan of Fightful Select, the rope tightness was called into question following two scary moments in the match between Breakker and Hayes. According to reports, everyone involved in the game was “little banged up.”
Breakker is expected to appear on RAW tonight and discuss Adam Pearce’s offer to join his brand. Hayes turned on Williams at the end of Vengeance Day.
