Former TNA President Scott D’Amore spoke with Fightful on a number of topics, including how the amount of love and messages he received following his TNA exit was humbling.
D’Amore said, “Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment. I spent a good amount of time away from the wrestling business after my departure from TNA. The reach out when I left TNA was overwhelming. It was humbling, and I’m not an easy guy to humble, I know that. The amount of people, some of them you expect, and some of them were wild to here from. I was truly touched. I wanted to take a step back, take some time away, and evaluate what should be next. Some of the people who reached out, I asked what was going on. Truthfully, I looked at my text messages one day and was like, ‘Keith Mitchell, Tim Walburg, Kevin Sullivan, Josh Alexander.’ I was like, ‘That’s a hell of a wrestling company right there.’ Started talking about things, looked at it, and figured the fall was a good time. It was far enough away from where everything transpired at the beginning of the year and gave me a good break and allowed me to move in different directions, and allowed me to start planning and organizing to have a great debut. We got that together. The talent we have is second to none. There are talent that reached out that I would have loved to have, but for one reason or another, a lot of times, we’re stacked for two nights already. I’m excited. I love this business. I always have, I always will. Even when I ventured off after my first run in TNA, that passion and love doesn’t go away. I’m excited to do this.”
