Rumor Killer On Rey Fenix Needing Surgery

The kind and extent of an injury will depend on the individual and how quickly they heal. A false rumor led some fans to believe that AEW would be without their star for an extended period of time, but that is not the case.

At WrestleDream, Rey Fenix worked only a few minutes of the AEW World Tag Team Fatal-Four Way Number One Contender Match. He was taken to the backstage area during the match and later stated that he was dealing with “an old injury” but intended to defend the AEW International Championship.

Fenix worked two matches, including losing the title to Orange Cassidy on October 10th. He was later removed from an independent show on January 5th, and he hasn’t worked since. The AEW star described it as the worst injury of his career in a recent interview, but he plans to bounce back quickly.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that the rumor that Fenix was getting a hip replacement is false.

“So the story that Rey Fenix was getting a hip replacement or had a hip replacement is inaccurate. Yes [ a double hip replacement], that’s inaccurate. I don’t know exactly what the whole story is. But I’m one of his friends who just said that he did not get a hip replacement.”
