The ROH World Television Title Eliminator Tournament will determine who will challenge ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe for the title.
On this week’s ROH TV episode, Lexy Nair interviewed Joe and ROH Board of Directors member Stokely Hathaway, as seen in the video below. The tournament was announced by Hathaway, and the first round was held on the same episode.
Shane Taylor defeated Serpentico in the quarter-finals, Tony Nese defeated Cheeseburger, Gravity defeated Anthony Henry, and Christopher Daniels defeated JD Drake.
Taylor, Nese, Gravity, and Daniels will now advance to the semi-finals, but the matches have yet to be confirmed because the brackets have not been revealed as of this writing. The tournament winner will eventually challenge Joe for the title.
Joe started his first reign as tite by defeating Minoru Suzuki on the April 13, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite. He’s been wearing the strap for 472 days and counting. Joe has retained his title over Trent Beretta, Jay Lethal, Josh Woods, current ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion Brian Cage, Juice Robinson, Tony Deppen, Cheeseburger, ROH Hall of Famer Mark Briscoe, Colt Cabana, Daniels, Blake Christian, Matt Sydal, and Dalton Castle, with the most recent title defense taking place on July 21 at ROH Death Before Dishonor.
