Ricky Saints Reflects On AEW Exit And WWE Rise

After his release from AEW earlier this year, Ricky Saints—formerly known as Ricky Starks—has found immediate success in WWE, currently reigning as the NXT North American Champion.

In a new profile by Cameron Hawkins for The Ringer, Saints opened up about his transition to WWE and the whirlwind process that brought him to the company.

“It was a very quick turnaround. People think that was days in advance. I had never spoken to WWE at all before any of that. I never got on the phone with anyone before that, blah, blah, blah. So all of that, when I say it happened so fast, it happened so fast and it never let up off the gas.”

Saints noted that while his aspirations in AEW were high, he never felt he was given the opportunity to truly shine on the level he believed he could.

“My aspirations in AEW were to just be given a chance and given the ball fully. I want that in WWE, obviously. I want the WWE Championship, but along the way, the Intercontinental Title would be great.”

Now making waves in NXT, Saints is positioning himself as a breakout star in WWE with eyes clearly set on even greater accomplishments down the line. Whether it’s the Intercontinental Title or the WWE Championship, Ricky Saints is proving that his drive—and his momentum—are very real.
