Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field hosted WWE WrestleMania XL earlier this month was a huge success for the company and the city.
The weekend featured WrestleMania at the NFL stadium, as well as SmackDown, NXT Stand & Deliver, the Hall of Fame ceremony, and RAW from the Wells Fargo Center, with WWE World set up at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. WrestleMania broke numerous records, including attendance, ticket sales, merchandise sales, social media engagement, and television viewership.
Now, Philadelphia would like to host WrestleMania again. Larry Needle, executive director of the organization’s PHL Sports division, said this during an interview with Sports Business Journal.
“This is such a highly-coveted event that we know there’s a long line of cities clamoring to host, and that’s just the reality of an event of this magnitude. But needless to say, we would be thrilled to have WrestleMania back, and at the right time we will engage in those conversations with the WWE.”
As of this writing, WWE has yet to announce the date and location of WrestleMania 41 next year, though Minnesota has been regarded as the front-runner for months.
