Eric Young and Deaner will square off at Impact Wrestling Emergence.
Deaner defeated The Laredo Kid on Thursday night’s Emergence go-home show. Deaner took the mic after the match and promised to end his story with Young in a No DQ match at Emergence. Kon will be rooting for Deaner.
The former stablemates have been feuding since late 2022, which led Deaner to kill off “the sickness” of The Design, or so he thought. Young then returned to Impact at Slammiversary this year, with the storyline being that he barely survived Deaner’s violent attack (in reality, Young had returned to WWE but never returned to TV).
Young was Scott D’Amore’s mystery partner at Slammiversary, and they defeated Deaner and Impact Hall of Famer Bully Ray. Deaner has been obsessed with eliminating his former leader ever since, and now he has one more chance at Emergence. Young has only wrestled twice since his return to Impact: he defeated the departing Nick Aldis on the July 27 episode, but was attacked by The Design after the match, and he defeated Kon by DQ on the August 17 episode due to interference by Deaner, which also resulted in a post-match beatdown.
Young and Deaner have worked 13 matches together since December 2009, teaming up and competing against each other, but Emergence will be their first singles match. On the December 8, 2020 Impact episode, Young defeated Deaner in their first match.
The Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada will host the 2023 Impact Emergence special this Sunday, August 27. It will be broadcast live on Impact Plus, YouTube for Ultimate Insiders subscribers, and FITE.
