Nick Khan Says WWE Won’t Sign Talent Just To Bench Them

WWE President Nick Khan made it clear during a recent appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast that WWE is committed to using the talent it signs—a not-so-subtle contrast to what he says happens in other wrestling companies.

With several top AEW names like Cody Rhodes, Jade Cargill, Ethan Page, Ricky Saints, Rey Fenix, and Penta making the jump to WWE in recent years, Simmons raised the concern of companies signing talent simply to prevent competitors from using them.

Khan responded:

“That’s something we won’t do. We won’t sign and bench people. We sign people who we want to use.”

When Simmons remarked, “That’s a thing that happens,” Khan replied:

“That’s what I’ve been told from time to time. Not us.”

This statement reinforces WWE’s ongoing strategic approach under Khan and Triple H, emphasizing intentional, purpose-driven acquisitions as the company continues to build a more competitive and creatively focused roster.
