During an interview on Huge Pop! with Donnie DaSilva and Jimmy Korderas, MVP opened up about Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin’s current run in AEW, hinting that it may be their final chapter in professional wrestling.
MVP, who has been closely aligned with Lashley and Benjamin throughout their careers, reflected on conversations with his longtime friends about their wrestling futures:
“I can’t speak for them, even though I normally speak for them, from our conversations, we often acknowledge that this is our last ride. Let’s be real, Bobby at 48 and Shelton at 49 are in better shape than most people in the industry today. They are still credible and can still go.”
Despite acknowledging that this run is likely their last, MVP didn’t rule out the possibility of Lashley and Benjamin extending their careers if the opportunity arises:
When this contract is done in a couple of years, two or three years, whatever it is, they’re still going to be in better shape than most people in the business. Who knows if at that point things are still going well, if someone says, ‘Hey, how about one more year? Two more years?’”
MVP also revealed that Bobby Lashley has expressed interest in retirement, focusing on his business ventures beyond wrestling:
“I can’t speak for them and what they’ll be willing to do at that point. I know Bobby has definitely talked about retiring and moving on to his business ventures and other things. For the most part, this is the last ride, but as we say in our business, card subject to change.”
With both Lashley and Benjamin in incredible shape and still performing at a high level, their current AEW run may be their final chapter—or the start of a new one. Their legendary careers and strong bond with MVP have made them fan favorites, and their futures, whether inside or outside the ring, remain highly anticipated.
