MJF on If He’s Signed a Contract Extension With AEW: “I Most Certainly Haven’t”

In the main event of this Saturday’s Full Gear pay-per-view event, MJF will face Jon Moxley for the AEW World Heavyweight Title in one of the biggest matches of his professional wrestling career thus far.

During his conversation with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, he reaffirmed that the first of January, 2024 will be the day that his contract will end. This has been used as his new tagline for the majority of 2022 due to the fact that he expressed publicly and privately his dissatisfaction with his contract with AEW. He felt that he should make more money than what the original deal called for.

This was used on television following Double Or Nothing, where he demanded that AEW President Tony Khan fire him and then disappeared from television for months until All Out, where he reappeared.

MJF has stated that he is being paid a significant amount more since his return two months ago; however, he has not signed a new deal that would replace his existing contract:

“I know the truth. I most certainly haven’t. I think that wrestling fans are kind of just doing that to kid themselves. So maybe they feel a little less heartbroken as things are going on. Now I’ll tell you this, bonus and brownie points from Tony Khan for paying me what he’s paying me now with no extension. He did not have to do that.”

The top star of AEW announced in September that he is now making “a stupid, absurd amount of money” with the promotion, despite the fact that he has not extended his contract with them. Later on, it was reported that MJF has an annual income of more than one million dollars.
