After being out of the picture for several months, MJF made his comeback at the AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view event. There, he laid out Adam Cole. He did a promo about how he was back to his former self and announced that he had signed a new contract with AEW.
This came after MJF worked the AEW Worlds End pay-per-view event in December despite suffering a torn labrum and hip injury. He relinquished the World Title to Samoa Joe and took a break.
He has competed in a few matches since then, including a win over Hechicero at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view event and, most significantly, earning the International Title from Will Ospreay on a recent episode of Dynamite.
While speaking with Cultaholic Wrestling’s Jack King, the top AEW star said that he is still not 100%.
MJF said, “I’ve come back from injury and I will tell you candidly, so here’s a little clickbait for you. I’m still not 100 percent. I had to come back because I don’t know if you noticed this, but the show without me blew a bag of d*cks. So I came back a little bit earlier than I probably physically should have. The funny thing is I was still able to beat RUSH, Templario, soon it’ll be Michael Oku, Kyle Fletcher, and Will Ospreay, and I’m gonna do it again on August 25th. And that’s me at 80 percent.”
MJF will defend the International Title against Ospreay at the All In pay-per-view event in a few weeks.
