Mercedes Moné is officially set to defend her NJPW Strong Women’s Championship at the upcoming Resurgence event on Friday, May 9th, live from the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California.
The challenger will be determined at Windy City Riot on April 11th, where Mina Shirakawa will battle AZM in a No. 1 Contender’s match. This marks Moné’s return to NJPW since her headline-making victory at Wrestle Dynasty in the Tokyo Dome on January 5th.
At Wrestle Dynasty, Moné successfully retained the Strong Women’s Title while also capturing the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, defeating Mina Shirakawa in a hard-fought bout.
Moné has held the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship since defeating Stephanie Vaquer at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view in June 2024.
NJPW Resurgence will stream live worldwide via NJPW World on May 9th.
