Mercedes Mone is no longer the IWGP Women’s Champion after losing the title to Mayu Iwatani at the All Star Grand Queendom event on Sunday.
The co-main event bout was back and forth, with Mayu going over in the end to end Mone’s reign.
Following the match, Mayu invited Mone back into the ring, where they both showed each other respect. Mone told her to take care of the championship. Iwatani is now the third person to hold the championship, following Mone and KAIRI.
As PWMania.com previously reported, Mone agreed to a contract extension with NJPW/STARDOM hours before the match, as her original contract was set to expire after the match.
After making her promotional debut in January at Wrestle Kingdom, the former WWE star defeated KAIRI to win the title in February.
