Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show, portrayed Captain Insano in Adam Sandler’s 1998 film “The Waterboy.”
Wight signed a contract with AEW in 2021, and the company filed for trademark rights to the Captain Insano name in March of that year.
Captain Insano gear has been created for the character’s possible use, Fightful Select reports. Beyond that, no further information was provided.
According to the report, a match was discussed for Sunday’s All In pay-per-view event that would have pitted Captain Insano, Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy against Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, and Satnam Singh.
However, Jeff Hardy is unable to enter the country due to previous legal issues. It’s unclear whether Jeff could be replaced and the match added late to the card.
