As previously reported by PWMania.com, AEW star Mark Davis sustained an injury during his match against Powerhouse Hobbs on the March 26 episode of Dynamite. Now, further details have emerged regarding the severity of the injury.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Davis suffered a broken foot during the bout. The injury reportedly occurred early in the match, which explains why the contest ended abruptly.
Meltzer added that while the injury will keep Davis out of in-ring competition for a couple of months, there has been internal discussion within AEW about keeping him visible on television in a non-wrestling capacity during his recovery.
“The reason the match ended so quickly was because Davis got hurt,” Meltzer stated. “There’s talk of keeping him on TV in the background while the injury heals.”
As of this writing, neither AEW nor Mark Davis have publicly confirmed the injury or provided an official timeline for his return. However, based on the current reports, the Aussie Open standout is expected to make a full recovery in the coming months.
