Kota Ibushi will not be wrestling anytime soon due to an ankle injury and has begun rehabilitation following surgery.

Ibushi’s most recent match occurred in January, during Pro Wrestling NOAH’s New Year 2024 event. It dominated the event as he faced Naomichi Marufuji. The match had some rough spots, and Kota later apologized for his performance.

Ibushi was believed to have injured both of his ankles early in the match. After the match, he was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. He later announced that he would be having surgery.

He left New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2023 and signed with AEW. He has not wrestled since WrestleDream in October.

In the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated, “After his ankle surgery, Kota Ibushi looks to be out six to 12 months.”

We wish him speedy recovery.
