WWE NXT Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston recently spoke with Fightful Select for an upcoming interview to promote his CLICK For Quality Education Foundation (aka Computer Lab & Integrated Centre of Knowledge for Quality Education), a non-profit that aims to assist in the establishment of award-winning computer labs and integrated centers of learning for Junior High schools in Ghana, particularly in deprived areas. Kingston stated that he and partner Xavier Woods received notifications that WWE Hall of Famer & Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels had requested that they be brought to NXT. That was a huge compliment for The New Day, and they were eager to work with the brand. He stated that they had long desired to collaborate with Pretty Deadly.
Regarding last year’s Royal Rumble blunder, Kingston stated that something like that was unavoidable at some point, and that all he could do was grow and learn from it, and that he was actually excited to finally be able to experience it. Kingston credited John Morrison with inventing that style of Royal Rumble save, and he praised Naomi, Sol Ruca, and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Katana Chance for similar moments. The Schism, Carmelo Hayes, Pretty Deadly, or Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen in The Rumble, according to Kofi.
Kingston also said it was fun to debate with WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T, and he’s all for a New Day vs. Harlem Heat match.
