Brock Lesnar’s wrestling future remains uncertain. Lesnar was apparently scheduled to appear in this year’s Royal Rumble to set up a WrestleMania feud, but those plans were dropped when Lesnar was implicated in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon.
It’s no secret that Lesnar disliked the travel schedule, which is why he’s only worked a few dates since returning to the business more than ten years ago. Lesnar’s resignation from WWE in 2004 was primarily motivated by dissatisfaction with his constant travel.
On the most recent episode of the “Kliq This” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash discusses touring with Brock Lesnar during the early days of Lesnar’s wrestling career:
“I remember I was driving, just me and him were driving and he’d been in the business, I mean, you know, he’d been on the main roster for maybe about a month, and me and Scott got cars and hotels. Brock was driving with me and Scott. We’re pulling up to the Nassau Coliseum. Scott and I would get two queen beds, and then we’d get him a king so it wouldn’t come out of his pocket to pay for a room. We’ve been on the road for about a week. We were catching workouts and everything else. We pulled up underneath the arena. He just looked over at me and goes, ‘Hey, Nash. How long have you been doing this?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, man, 20-something years.’ He goes, ‘I’ve been doing this shit for a couple months. I fu**ing hate it.’ He hated it. He was just like, ‘I don’t get it, man. I don’t know how you guys drive 300 miles every fu**ing day, do this sh*t, get in the car, go to the gym and do it again, do it again, do it again, go home, wash your sh*t, come back and do it again, do it again, do it again.” I said, ‘I can’t sing and I can’t dance, so I gotta do this sh*t’”
While the door appears to be open for Lesnar to return to WWE, there is no hint that this will happen anytime soon. Lesnar is thought to be financially secure for the rest of his life, and at 47 years old, it’s not unreasonable to expect him to consider retiring.
