WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator Jim Ross recently spoke on his podcast, “Grilling JR,” about a variety of professional wrestling topics including work Nigel McGuinness has been doing at AEW Collision and revealed that he’s heard that McGuinness wants to have one more match at some point.
Nigel McGuinness vs. Bryan Danielson was supposed to be in the works for AEW ALL IN 2023, however those plans were shelved due to Danielson’s injury.
“I enjoy working with Kevin Kelly and Nigel,” Ross said. “Nigel’s getting really good. Not that Kevin isn’t but Nigel is kind of a newcomer in that world and he’s doing a great job. I enjoy working with him. He’s fun, he’s a good guy. I know he wants to have one more match somewhere down the road and I hope he gets it. I saw online the other day Connie, where Bryan Danielson said he and Nigel would be a hell of a match at Wembley (ALL IN).”
Conrad Thompson stated that he would love to see that battle, and that it would be a terrific narrative for McGuinness, especially on such a large platform.
For those of you that watch Collision every week, it’s quite evident that McGuinness is preparing for a match with Danielson, or at the very least hoping for one because he’s been pounding on Danielson on commentary for months.
Danielson looked to be sowing the seeds for that match last summer at the AEW Double Or Nothing pres conference when he said McGuinness couldn’t keep up and would break his neck.
