Jey Uso defeated Bron Breakker to win the Intercontinental Title, as seen on this week’s episode of WWE Raw. Uso’s first singles title victory in WWE.
Uso earned his title shot by winning a #1 contender’s Intercontinental Title tournament that took place on Raw a few weeks ago. Breakker won the title from Sami Zayn at SummerSlam and defended it on an episode of Raw in a best two out of three falls match.
Uso made history as a result. Uso and Rikishi became only the second father-son duo in company history to hold the Intercontinental Championship simultaneously. They join “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig and his son, Curtis Axel, in their accomplishment.
Rikishi won the title in June 2000 but lost it 13 days later to Val Venis. That was his only singles championship reign in WWE.
Mr. Perfect held the Intercontinental Championship twice, from April 1990 to August 1991, for a total of 404 days. Axel won it at Payback in June 2013, defeating Wade Barrett and The Miz in a triple threat match, before losing it to Big E on a November Raw episode, ending his 155-day reign.
