For the 2021 NFL Superbowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, it was reported that 25,000 people attended the event with 30,000 cardboard cutouts being used to fill the empty seats. For $100 each, fans were able to purchase a cutout of themselves that would count as a “virtual” seat.
As previously noted, the belief is that WWE will be influenced by the NFL’s setup at the Superbowl for Wrestlemania 37. Twitter account @WrestleVotes noted the following regarding WWE’s mindset towards using cutouts:
With the Super Bowl tonight at Raymond James Stadium -home of WrestleMania 37 in 9 weeks- so far, WWE has been against the idea of filling the “empty” seats w/ cutouts as the NFL has done. I assume that decision will be discussed again now as the stadium looks great. #SuperBowl
