Henry O. Godwinn On Making The Transition From WCW To WWE, Working In Old WWE Rings

WWE legend Henry O. Godwinn appeared on an episode of Six Feet Under, where he talked about a number of topics including making the transition from WCW to WWE.

Godwinn said, “Matter of fact, me and Phineas and Triple H got let go at the same time. I came up. The first person I rode with — I knew nobody because down there, you know, it was a lot of the older guys. And I feel like Vince [McMahon] was pushing younger guys at the time. And, you know, Flair had just brought everybody back, the whole crew. And it felt like more of like a family atmosphere, like, ‘Man, people want to help me up here. They’re giving me advice.’ While down there, Arn told me and Phineas, he said, ‘You guys are too good at getting people over all the time.’ He said, ‘You may need to go up north.’ So when we got our papers, I was on it. It just felt like I had so much more opportunity. I mean, don’t get me wrong. It was fun. It was a learning experience. We did get used and abused there a little bit, but it was it was good because it was a learning experience for us.”

On old WWE rings:

“Yeah, it was like taking this rug and just throwing it on concrete.”
