John Cena has officially kicked off his retirement tour, appearing on the premiere episode of WWE Raw on Netflix. As part of his farewell run, he has a chance to headline WrestleMania 41 by competing in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match. A victory would earn him a shot at Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Cena has announced that he will retire from WWE in December 2025.
If Cena captures another World Title, he will break the record for the most World Championship reigns in history.
During a recent interview with the Daily Mail to promote WWE’s upcoming European tour, WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER shared his thoughts on a potential showdown with Cena:
“It’s the last chance to get in the ring with him, so if that ever becomes a possibility, I would definitely take that. John Cena is obviously one of the wrestlers, you can put him onto Mount Rushmore.
If I get the chance, I would definitely like to do that. Let’s see how it plays out. Maybe I can end up as his last chance to win a championship at some point in that year, and I can be the one that crushes all those dreams. That would be very enjoyable.”
GUNTHER, who has established himself as a dominant force in WWE, is currently preparing to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41.
With Cena’s farewell tour underway and GUNTHER’s dominance in full swing, a showdown between these two powerhouses could become one of the most anticipated matches of Cena’s final year in WWE.
