A familiar face returned at the WWE NXT live event on Friday night.
At the WWE NXT non-televised live event in Fort Pierce, Florida on September 22, 2023, former Olympic gold medalist and NCAA champion Gable Steveson made his in-ring return.
Steveson made his NXT in-ring debut at the NXT Great American Bash 2023 premium live event on July 30, competing against Baron Corbin in a match that went to a double count out.
After the match was poorly received by WWE fans at the event, Steveson’s future in pro wrestling was becoming unclear.
He had expressed interest in returning to amateur wrestling and potentially competing in the 2024 Olympics, however he also withdrew from the Senior World Championships this month, leading to further speculation about his future plans.
Steveson worked the main event at Friday’s NXT Ft. Pierce house show, teaming up with The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) to defeat Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne.
