After having an ablation performed on his heart a month ago, Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson is now training in Orlando at the WWE Performance Center, according to a report by Mike Coppinger of ESPN. As a result of having Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW), Steveson needed to have the procedure done.
Steveson stated to ESPN that this was first discovered a year ago before he flew to Tokyo for the Olympics, but he postponed the procedure until he got advice from WWE’s medical staff.
Following the discovery of WPW, Steveson stated to ESPN that the process took “many months,” and that during it, WWE made recommendations for him to consult with leading cardiologists.
The WPW syndrome is the cause of a racing heartbeat. A n ablation “uses small burns or freezes to cause some scarring on the inside of the heart to help break up the electrical signals that cause irregular heartbeats.”
After signing a multi-year contract with WWE in 2021, Steveson was scheduled to appear on Raw after WrestleMania of this year. The company holds high hopes that he will achieve the same level of fame as someone like Brock Lesnar in the near future. On NXT, Steveson’s brother Bobby competes under the ring name Damon Kemp.
