Former Ring Of Honor Owner Believes The Brand “Is Not Being Treated Very Well” Under Tony Khan

On July 26, Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor will be televised live from Esports Stadium Arlington on pay-per-view. Many have claimed that ROH isn’t getting as much attention these days because it only streams on HonorClub through the ROH website and app—not on television.

In his podcast Mat Memories from Madison Square Garden, John Arezzi briefly discussed ROH’s heyday and the company’s current state since Tony Khan bought it.

Evan Ginzburg, a wrestling historian, spoke about his fifty plus years as a fan. He stated, “50 years. Thousands and thousands of matches and some of the greatest matches I ever saw was at Ring of Honor – Nigel McGuinness and Bryan Danielson. I want to thank Cary. That was Dory Funk, Jr-Jack Brisco level, Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair level. Danielson and Nigel, that was wrestling elevated to art. I wish they had the worldwide showcase that Danielson later got in WWE and AEW because they deserved it. Those were unbelievable matches.”

Former Ring of Honor owner Cary Silkin, who is a regular on the podcast alongside Ginzburg and Arezzi, said, “Ring of Honor of that era tried to show some respect to professional wrestling. Sure we had some wacky stuff. Sure we had the the flippy dippy do was coming into fashion. The flippy dippy do was going on with Édouard Carpentier too…Ring of Honor, there was some good pro wrestling going on in that segment of it. Right now, Ring of Honor it’s like no one cares at all. I don’t care how much money Tony Khan has. It’s not being treated very well.”

If Tony Khan includes ROH in their next AEW TV deal, we could see more exposure for ROH, but there is currently no word on where that stands.
