As PWMania.com previously reported, the Ronda Rousey and Raquel Rodriguez match that was originally scheduled for this year’s WWE Royal Rumble PLE was moved to SmackDown a few weeks ago.
PWMania.com also previously noted that according to reports, Edge was scheduled to face Finn Balor in a Hell in a Cell match at the Rumble as of last month. Those plans were obviously nixed. Although a source claimed that there were plans to bring Beth Phoenix back, we don’t know why the match was cut from the show.
Phoenix’s is expected at this weekend’s Royal Rumble, but WWE sources haven’t said whether she’ll participate in the Women’s Rumble match or just visit backstage. Phoenix’s return to in-ring action has been discussed. A Mixed Tag Team Match between Beth Phoenix and Edge and Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley was scheduled to take place at the Montreal Elimination Chamber event as of last month.
It’s not confirmed that the Mixed Tag Match will take place next month given how much has changed in recent weeks, but we should learn more in the coming days if they are still moving in that direction.
