Belal Muhammad is the brand new UFC Welterweight Champion, and he’s already eyeing big things.
“Remember the Name” defeated Leon Edwards in his home country of England to capture the UFC’s 170-lb. title and in a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, spoke about how he was supposed to go to WWE SummerSlam 2024 earlier this month.
“I want to be a tag team with Punk,” said Muhammad, whom Punk referenced in a promo on WWE Raw in the past after training with him during his own stint in the UFC in the past. “I was supposed to go to SummerSlam, but I went to Abu Dhabi for the UFC fight.”
He continued, “I knew Punk was making his comeback, and I wanted to see it, and then I saw Jelly Roll in the ring, and I was thinking, ‘Hey, that could have been me!’”
