Cody Rhodes and Chad Gable had a great match on this week’s episode of WWE RAW, and the finish featured one of the best Cross Rhodes in recent memory. The fight lasted for roughly 10 minutes.
WRKD Wrestling, who broke the news that Lita was returning to WWE TV and that Trish Stratus was returning alongside other media outlets, posted an interesting tweet about this match.
In the tweet, it was mentioned that when Rhodes was an EVP in the promotion, he wanted to bring Gable to AEW. We now know Rhodes was one of the names mentioned in the 2021 report about talent hoping AEW would sign Gable.
WRKD Wrestling wrote, “Cody Rhodes wants Chad Gable to have a ‘big showing’ during their Raw match tonight, as Rhodes has been a fan of him and was one of the unnamed AEW talents hoping to eventually bring Gable to the company, as reported by Meltzer in 2021.”
Gable’s friends reportedly wanted him to join the rival promotion in October 2021. At the time, he was performing the Shorty G gimmick but wasn’t used frequently.
