WWE superstar Cody Rhodes responded to a fan’s comment questioning Cody’s reason for quitting AEW.
According to one rumor that has circulated in recent months, Rhodes had a falling out with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, which is why he departed AEW.
Another allegation that has gained traction in recent weeks alleges that Rhodes had a falling out with CM Punk. There have also been reports concerning money and the manner in which he was booked.
Rhodes indicated on Twitter that none of those things are the reason he left AEW and that he would always be loyal to The Elite. Rhodes stated that he and Punk got along well. He further stated that his leaving had nothing to do with money or reservations and that it was purely a personal matter.
On the most recent Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Rhodes informed him that it was time to quit the company. In other words, he did what his father did and what many wrestlers did when it came time to switch things up.
The following is Rhodes’ tweet:
“I didn’t leave because of the Bucks/Kenny. I’m forever bonded to those men over what we created and I remain very proud of it, and I didn’t leave because of/or have issues with Punk. We got along. Not money, not booking, just a personal issue and my wanting to go for the big one.”
