Marcus “Buff” Bagwell turned his life around after battling demons and struggling with addiction, which caused him setbacks.
Bagwell made a name for himself in WCW after entering the company in 1990. He won the WCW Tag Team Championship five times before the company folded in 2001. He was a member of the NWO from 1996 until 1999.
While with WCW, he also brought in his mother for television appearances, including the infamous “Judy Bagwell on a Forklift” match at New Blood Rising in 2000. In 1998, she and Rick Steiner were the WCW Tag Team Champions.
He briefly worked for WWE in 2001, including the infamous match with Booker T that prompted Vince McMahon to cancel plans to relaunch the WCW brand. In later years, he worked in the independent wrestling circuit.
On Saturday night, Bagwell and Big John Dalton defeated Lord Gaston and Sir Matthew to win the Memphis Wrestling Tag Team Championships.
This was Bagwell’s first match since October 2022, at WrestlePro Alaska Back With A Bang.
