One NXT star appears to have already been pushed to the WWE main roster.
Dragon Lee was a significant signing for WWE, and the company has great expectations for Lee. When he signed the contract in December, the idea was that he would be quickly pushed to the main roster since they saw him as the next great Mexican star, similar to Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero.
Due to visa concerns, Lee’s WWE debut at the Performance Center was delayed, but he worked his first WWE bout at a house event in March and later made his TV debut.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “Dragon Lee did so well with Dominik that it looks like he’s now on the main roster. The nature of the deal he signed did indicate he’d be on the main roster after one year in NXT to begin with, but the match with Dominik may have sped up his timetable. He was legitimately debating between AEW and WWE last year when both made their offers and WWE did indicate main roster money in the deal for year two.”
Lee had interest from AEW prior to signing with WWE and was weighing both possibilities.
