Backstage News On Why MJF vs. RUSH Was Commercial Free

The opening match of Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw former AEW World Champion MJF take on La Faccion Ingobernable’s “El Toro Blanco” RUSH in a commercial-free one-on-one showdown. MJF would go on to defeat RUSH after hitting him with a brainbuster and securing the pinfall.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason why the match was commercial-free is because RUSH is not allowed to compete at their upcoming Forbidden Door PPV and CMLL would be very unhappy if he will somehow end up on the show. Meanwhile, MJF will be taking on Hechicero at the PPV, which is set to take place on Sunday, June 30th from the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York.

Previous reports have noted that both CMLL and AAA wrestlers will be able to appear at Forbidden Door at the same time and work together and that AEW President Tony Khan has worked on some issues between the two rival lucha promotions. However, there still seem to be some issues and restrictions for RUSH not being allowed to appear. Updates will be provided on the situation once it becomes available.
