It had been expected that Brock Lesnar would make a surprise comeback on WWE TV, by returning in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match at the Royal Rumble.

That was dropped after a sex trafficking lawsuit was filed against Vince McMahon and WWE, which named a former WWE/UFC Heavyweight Champion. Lesnar is the only one who fits the bill. At one point this week, he was supposed to fly to Tampa, Florida for the show.

Following the Royal Rumble, there was speculation about who would replace him in the bout that Cody Rhodes won.

Dave Meltzer, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, mentioned that Bron Breakker replaced Lesnar in the bout.

Dave Meltzer: “I think most people know this, but Brock Lesnar was scheduled to return to Rumble, and this was a change obviously that was made because of the lawsuits or the changes made probably Friday. Friday, most likely perhaps Saturday morning, and Bron breaker because of that, and the fact that the match was pretty much scripted out already. Bron Breaker essentially fulfilled the Brock Lesnar role he came in when Brock Lesnar was gonna come in. He threw up the guys Brock Lesnar was gonna throw out. It was you got thrown out exactly how Brock Lesnar was [supposed to be].”

Bryan Alvarez: “So it was Bron Breaker?”

Meltzer: “100%.”

According to Meltzer, Bron was not scheduled for the Rumble.
