Backstage News On Top TNA Star Originally Set To Win The World Title At Slammiversary

The main event of TNA Slammiversary 2024 saw Nic Nemeth win a Six-Way Elimination Match to become the new TNA World Champion, but The Wanted Man was reportedly not set to win the match.

Fightful Select reports that “The Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander was originally slated to win the TNA World Title at Slammiversary, a reward for cementing himself as one of the top heels in the company. No official reason was given for the change, but TNA sources did hint that they thought Alexander can continue his feud with Joe Hendry without a championship being involved.

A number of fans have also wondered why Hendry, who has been receiving a lot of buzz as of late due to his popularity and his crossover work in WWE NXT, wasn’t given the title. The report mentions that despite Hendry’s incredible ability to go viral, he was never considered to become TNA World Champion at Slammiversary.
