Backstage News On The Bloodline’s WWE Tag Team Title Reign With Jacob Fatu Out

The Bloodline (“The Right Hand Man” Tama Tonga and “The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu) defeated #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) on the SummerSlam go-home episode of WWE SmackDown on August 2 to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.

Fatu is currently out of action due to a potential injury he suffered at SummerSlam. On the August 9 episode of SmackDown, Tonga Loa was holding the other title belt, which led several fans to wonder if Loa would defend the title along with his brother Tama even though he was not the other person to win the championship.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, The Bloodline will essentially be using the Free Bird rule as champions, meaning either Solo Sikoa or Tonga Loa can defend the tag team titles against their future opponents. This exact same rule was enforced during The Uso’s record-breaking run as tag team champions and The New Day’s year long reign as tag team champions.

The report also states that Jacob Fatu is banged up, but WWE is purposely keeping him away from Roman Reigns, who has single-handedly been running through this version of The Bloodline since he returned.

The eventual idea will be to do a huge one-on-one match between the two somewhere down the line.
